The C Family | Washington DC Newborn Photographer

Wow, it’s been a while since I have posted a blog!  Between the holiday rush and me wading through morning sickness (yep, you heard right, baby #4 is expected early July!), blogging got pushed by the wayside.  However, I have some lovely sessions stored up to share with you and I’m happy to start with this one.

One of the pastors at my church greeted his fourth child right before Christmas and I was fortunate enough to capture these newborn baby memories for them.  Newborns change so quickly that even photos taken within two weeks of birth are glaringly different than those a few weeks later.  This little guy was a super model and posed for us nicely.

This handsome man was born into a beautiful family!  Check out these portraits of his cherub siblings!

Some of my clients’ most cherished images are those of mom or dad holding their newborn.  Through these baby portraits, you can “hope” to remember the size of your infant (I have a terrible detail memory!) and the love you felt.

Alannah and Kyla | Maryland Newborn Twins Photographer

Shortly after I moved to Bethesda, MD, a friend from where I used to live introduced me to this wonderful couple.  She was 5 or so months pregnant and, having twins myself, we talked “shop.” 🙂  A few months later these wee ladies decided to make their entrance into the world a bit early but are now thriving.  I was fortunate enough to be able to take their newborn portraits and, boy, are they beautiful, especially sleeping in daddy’s arms.

I love photographing twins (I might be a bit biased!) because it can be a challenge but also because you see the love and bond between them.

A New Cousin | Washington DC Newborn Photographer

This wee boy is my nephew, eight days old and wide awake!  He didn’t want to miss out on anything. Except when he fell asleep on the couch, “exhausted” from “reading” all night as you saw last week and below.  You might also remember mom and dad from their maternity photos a few weeks ago.

But he was content and sweet – the apple of his parents’ eyes.  I happen to think he’s pretty cute too, as do my children, as does everyone related (and many not related) to him!

Since these were taken in my home studio and of family, my children were around.  They really love their new cousin and wanted to be in a picture.   They weren’t exactly dressed and coiffed for a photo shoot but were sweet anyway.

Project 52: Blue | Bethesda, MD Newborn Photographer

Today’s theme is blue… well, there’s blue in his blanket! 🙂  Really, I just wanted to share a pic of my new nephew with you.

He was so exhausted after reading all those books that he had to take a nap!  He’s precocious – only seven days old and already taking after his mom who is a librarian.

Bittersweet goodbyes | Maryland family photographer

Sadness and joy are upon me at the same time.  We are moving to Bethesda, Maryland in two months and, of course, the news is bittersweet.

I am excited for this new adventure, for the opportunity for my children to see more of the world, for my husband to be challenged in his new job, for the hardwood floors in our new home :), for the green and the four seasons, for trees that actually create open shade and for new clients and friends.

But I am sad to be leaving all of my wonderful clients and friends here in Las Vegas.  My business has taken root here and many of my clients have become friends.  This is where Roaming Reflections Photography has grown wings and left the proverbial nest.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of my life for the last five and a half years.  Thank you for supporting me, encouraging me, hiring me :), and for loving your families enough to invest in professional photography.  The years fly by so quickly that we wonder where that chubby-cheeked toddler went.  Do me a favor and find another photographer you love and keep taking pictures!   These fleeting moments are priceless.

So here’s to starting anew in Maryland – I will be serving the Bethesda, Chevy Chase, Rockville, College Park and surrounding areas of Maryland as well as the Washington DC metro area and Fairfax County, Virginia.  I will continue to photograph families, children, babies and newborns.  I might even publicly offer my services for weddings (until now, they’ve been underground).  🙂  If you live in any of these areas, I will be available to book sessions starting the end of March 2012.
